Mike Hooves

Trans is a Flower celebrates the inherent beauty within the fluctuating state of transness. Employing colours from the transgender flag, this limited-run silkscreen series utilizes typography and floral illustrations to emphasize the many phases and forms transness assumes.


Mike Hooves is a prairie queer working in illustration, animation, murals, and film in Treaty 7 - Calgary. They received their bachelor of design from AUArts in 2016. Mike uses simple shapes, saturated colour, and gestural line work to create playful and engaging imagery that utilizes queer aesthetics and signifiers.
