James Tworow

Everyday Cyclists of Calgary April 03 - May 29, 2022

James Tworow’s exhibition Everyday Cyclists of Calgary is a small selection of photos he has taken in the last sixteen years. While he prefers to walk, for him “the bicycle is a great prop around which people enjoy themselves” and it gives him “interesting stories to tell.”

James Tworow has been wandering downtown Calgary since 2006, doing street photography, stranger portraits, and capturing candid moments. Tworow is a self-taught photographer his work has been published in Alberta Views and Swerve magazine.

In the spirit of respect, reconciliation, and truth, we honour and acknowledge that we live, play and work upon the traditional territories of the Blackfoot Confederacy (Siksika, Kainai, Piikani), the Tsuut’ina, the Îyâxe Nakoda Nations, the Métis Nation (Region 3), and all people who make their homes in the Treaty 7 region of Southern Alberta.

We remain ever mindful of the ongoing impact of colonization and land rights, here as well as in the multitude of indigenous communities entangled globally in the agribusiness of coffee.
